Advent Calendar: Benzion Kresch

Benzion Kresch

I have no dates on when Benzion was born, but he appears to have died before 1919
Lived in: Galicia, Eastern Europe
Married: Fiege Golda Riech
Children:
Dora Kresch
Minna Kresch
Possibly a son
May be more children

Benzion Kresch was born in Eastern Europe, likely Galicia like his daughter Dora. From what little information I have, was a teacher and Rabbi there. It seemed he may have taught in a number of towns as a young man before and possibly after marrying Fiege. He and Feige had at least two daughters, both of whom were born in Galicia, and later moved to Frankfurt as young women to make a better life for themselves. I believe Benzion lived and died in Galicia, as there seem to be no records of him elsewhere.

(Note: I am not entirely certain this picture is Benzion as opposed to Leon Seneft, but after looking at their children, I'm inclined to believe this man looks more like Dora than her husband.)

I agree that it's Benzion. I'll have to tag it as such the next time I'm on that computer.

It's possible it's his father. Or even his wife's father. It's hard to say for sure, given that we've no name on the photo. But it makes sense it's him.

About this blog

This blog is maintained by two sisters who have had a life long interest in geneology.
Mika writes here mostly about our family (Hansen, Hillinger, Bordewick, Park, etc), and her search for more information.
Shannon mostly uses this space as a place to make the many stories written about and by her husband's family (Holly, Walker, Walpole, etc) available to the rest of the family, present and future.

Our blog is named Oh Spusch! mostly because Shannon is bad at naming things. The first post I put up includes a story about the time Walker's great grandfather took his whole family out to see a play and the littlest kept saying "Oh! Spusch!" No one ever figured out what she meant by that.
